A repair can help the planet more than you think!
We are all conscious of the impact we have on the planet and what we can do to help. We are also looking into our own carbon footprint and thought we would share our efforts with you.

Paint products

We obviously need to use some paint products in our repair process, but to minimise the impact on the environment we now only use green coatings that are VOC compliant and cause minimal harm. In addition to this we use such a small amount in every repair that we believe this is the best way forward, especially when compared to replacing a damaged item.
Landfill
By repairing broken items instead of ripping them out and replacing with new, we are reducing the amount that goes into landfill and at the same time reducing the energy and materials needed to make the new fitting. We also save additional trades attending along with all of the related travel etc.
No Extra Trades
By choosing a repair option you wont need extra trades like plumbers or tilers to attend the job. We repair all items in situ without removing or disturbing any other fixtures. Saving extra trades means less travel, CO2 emissions and also any replacement items and materials needed.

Production Costs

If you opt to simply replace a broken item, a new one needs to be made in a factory (usually outside the UK) along with all the raw materials and production chemicals, then it needs to be shipped half way round the globe, then shipped to you along with all the unnecessary packaging and finally tradesmen needed to travel to fit the item in place. Our system cuts out all of this and allows you to get a repair which will save you £100's.

Running a vehicle
This has been a difficult one to try and balance. However we have purchased a new vehicle that complies with all current low emission zones (ULEZ etc) and we also have access to the Shell Go+ fuel scheme, that allows users to offset fuel use and emissions. Due to the distance we cover an electric vehicle is not feasible at present, but we are doing everything else we can to reduce our emissions. If the battery technology improves enough we hope to be able to run an electric vehicle soon.
General Waste
We don't create much waste at all, but all our masking papers are made from recycled materials and all the other waste we produce during a repair is fully recyclable. In fact if you add up all the waste we produce in an average week it would not even fill half a black bin bag (a bio-degradable one of course).
Going Paperless
We are already virtually paperless in our business, we do sometimes get asked for a paper receipt or invoice but wherever possible we provide all documents in an email form and ask all our customers to consider the environment before printing.
There's always more we can all do and we are no exception, we are always trying to find ways to improve and will continue to do what we can as our business grows.
